Remedies for grief

Emotional distress can reverberate on all the body and create a shock wave that can unset a whole physical balance. Homeopaths may sometimes have to help someone who went through grief years earlier. Homeopathy offers a safe and gentle option providing support during times when we go through grief, loss, and mourning. It can be following the death of a dear one, the end of a relationship, leaving our home, or the end of a job. Letting things go is painful, coming with much sorrow, distress, and sometimes catching us in a place of shock and mourning.

The remedies below can be considered as a first line of defense. Later other remedies may be needed as the conditions and ailments of the person evolve.

Ignatia is a first go-to remedy to consider after a significant loss and when grief is protracted or stuck in our mind. Ailments include inability to talk about the loss, a preference for remaining alone, where weeping can flow.  The Ignatia person is improved when consoled. If the grief remains unexpressed, it can become a sensation of lump in the throat, with episodes of sighing, sobbing punctuated by outbursts of anger over trifles. over the longer term, physical manifestations may cause headaches, nervous complaints—including tics, anxiety, heart palpitations, and digestive issues.

People needing Lycopodium Clavatum also have a silent grief and disappointment. They have a lack in self confidence and may feel weak and inadequate. They may project paradoxical behavior nurtured from the sense that they need to hide their perceived shortcomings. They may be haughty and demanding on their immediate family but are timid and passive towards superiors and people they are not acquainted with.

Phosphoricum Acidum is usually needed after the first stage of grief and bereavement set in. Ailments are marked by an extreme exhaustion and indifference. Still, despite the sheer lack of energy, the person is unable to rest, and sleep is an issue. The condition may be flanked by crushing headaches and difficulty remaining focused. People requiring Phosphoricum Acidum may experience that their hair grays after grief.

Pulsatilla is given to mild persons, whose emotions nevertheless are kept vivid inside. Feeling alone and forsaken are the additional features of this remedy. The person can now become weepy and find comfort in consolation, being held, hugged, and supported by others. Ailments have a variable feature and rapidly changing.

Natrum Muriaticum comes in handy where sadness sets in after grief. Emotions remain suppressed and are typically not displayed, unlike Pulsatilla. The person needing Natrum Muriaticum keeps private and prefer being left alone. Consolation tends to aggravate and rehashing past events makes it harder to fall asleep at night.
